Language Horizons: Evolving Trends in English Language Competencies and Linguistic Proficiencies

Concept Note

In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, the English language is experiencing profound shifts, particularly among the younger generation often referred to as “Digital Natives” or Generation Z. These shifts encompass not only linguistic competencies but also broader literary perspectives shaped by diverse cultural influences, technological advancements, and changing communication mediums. The objective of “Language Horizons” is to explore and analyze the dynamic transformations occurring within English language competencies and linguistic proficiencies, specifically among Generation Z. By delving into recent trends and emerging phenomena, this Conference aims to provide valuable insights into how language is evolving and being redefined in contemporary society.

Key Themes:

Digital Literacies and Multimodal Communication: Generation Z’s engagement with digital technologies has fundamentally altered the way they communicate and interact with language. From emojis to memes, GIFs to social media slang, this generation has developed a unique repertoire of digital literacies. “Language Horizons” seeks to unravel the implications of these multimodal forms of communication on traditional language competencies and literary perspectives.

Cultural Influences and Globalization: The interconnectedness facilitated by globalization has led to the infusion of diverse cultural influences into the English language. Generation Z, being more globally connected than any previous generation, navigates a linguistic landscape enriched by multiculturalism. This Conference will examine how cultural diversity shapes language use and understanding, reflecting on the evolving notions of identity and belonging among young people.

Technological Innovations and Language Evolution: The rapid pace of technological innovation continually reshapes the linguistic environment. Artificial intelligence, machine translation, and voice assistants are just a few examples of technological advancements that impact language usage and comprehension. “Language Horizons” aims to explore the intersection of technology and language, investigating how these innovations shape linguistic proficiencies and literary expressions among Generation Z.

Education and Pedagogical Approaches: Traditional approaches to language education may no longer suffice in preparing Generation Z for the complexities of contemporary communication. “Language Horizons” will examine innovative pedagogical strategies and educational interventions aimed at fostering robust English language competencies that align with the needs and realities of today’s digital era.

“Language Horizons” endeavors to shed light on the intricate interplay between language, technology, culture, and education in shaping the linguistic landscape for Generation Z. By redefining our understanding of language competencies and literary perspectives, this project aims to contribute to the advancement of knowledge and the development of effective strategies for navigating the complexities of language in the 21st century.

The Conference invites Call for Paper drawing on insights from language, linguistics, education, sociology, media studies, and cultural studies. The conference will take the form of keynote speeches, symposia, individual paper presentations, and poster presentations. It will provide a platform for researchers, educators, and policymakers to share their latest research findings and best practices in English language education.

We invite you to join us for this scholastic endeavour and contribute to the evolving trends in English Language Competencies and Linguistic Proficiencies

About Jaipur

(Source: Wikipedia)

Jaipur formerly Jeypore, is the capital and largest city of the Indian state of Rajasthan. As of 2011, the city had a population of 3.1 million, making it the tenth most populous city in the country. Jaipur is also known as the Pink City, due to the dominant colour scheme of its buildings. It is also known as the Paris of India, and Dr. C.V. Raman called it the Island of Glory. It is located 268 km (167 miles) from the national capital New Delhi. Jaipur was founded in 1727 by the Kachhwaha Rajput ruler Jai Singh II, the ruler of Amer, after whom the city is named. It was one of the earliest planned cities of modern India, designed by Vidyadhar Bhattacharya. During the British Colonial period, the city served as the capital of Jaipur State. After independence in 1947, Jaipur was made the capital of the newly formed state of Rajasthan. Jaipur is a popular tourist destination in India and forms a part of the west Golden Triangle tourist circuit along with Delhi and Agra (240 km, 149 mi). It also serves as a gateway to other tourist destinations in Rajasthan such as Jodhpur (348 km, 216 mi), Jaisalmer (571 km, 355 mi), Bharatpur (186 km,116 mi), Udaipur (421 km,262 mi), Kota (252 km,156 mi) and Mount Abu (520 km, 323 mi).
